Poem: I was not born an Actress

I was not born an actress

I was not born an actress.
It has never been an aspiration
Although many I have collected.
Performers are admirable.
Those who can become others have unlimited talent.
Spinning together silvery lies.
Leading many lives.
They provide endless opportunities for themselves.
In my own life, I intend only one path with many passages.
I would like to assist those people.
Those lost in their many self-enhanced images.
Those who feel torn and scattered.
Ripping hair out in frustration and confusion,
Drowning in their seas of emotions.
I only want to help them to find their way.
I aim to chase birds.
So why should I play at Hansel and Gretel leaving trails?
I take no pleasure in standing in front of you.
Parading my skills or even my lack there of.
What makes you think that wanting to write means wanting to share?
I am selfish.
What makes you think that I want any part in this performance?
I was not born an actress.
